Hawk Walk at Aillwee Burren Experience
A once in a lifetime opportunity to interact with one of nature’s top predators awaits you, all in the unique setting of Aillwee Burren Experience.
On arrival, you will be greeted by one of our expert raptor handlers where they will introduce you to some of Aillwee’s resident Harris Hawks (Parabuteo unicinctus). Of the many bird of prey species living at Aillwee, the Harris hawks are the ones you will be flying. Their social nature and relaxed attitude makes them ideal for this up-close and personal experience.
After a friendly introduction to the hawks, you will be instructed how to correctly handle them and fly them as they gracefully dive through the trees and soar over the Burren limestone to return to your glove.
With one of our raptor handlers by your side and your hawk on the wing, be prepared to hike up into the depths of an ancient Atlantic rainforest; exploring paths which twist and turn through the hazel trees and ferns. Learn about the landscape, the native wildlife and the incredible secrets behind the thrilling flight of the Harris hawk.
